How to find your GPRN

2 min read

Your Gas Point Reference Number (GPRN) is a unique seven digit number which identifies a property’s connection to the gas network. It is an important piece of information for any home supplied by mains gas, with multiple ways to locate it.

Why you need your GPRN

Your GPRN is essential for homes with mains gas if you want to switch gas or dual fuel providers. Gas suppliers use it to identify where your property is connected to the national gas grid.

It is the main identifier used by suppliers to let them know what property they are supposed to switch, setting up new accounts, and submitting meter readings.

Look on your gas bill

The simplest way to find your GPRN is on your most recent gas bill. In most cases it will be located in the top right corner along with other identifying information before the bill proper.

However, where the code is located on your bill can vary by supplier. Your GPRN will be clearly labelled as such before the code, so it should be easy to spot.

Ask Gas Networks Ireland

If you have just moved property then you can find your GPRN by contacting Gas Networks Ireland on 1800 464 464.

Check with your landlord or previous owner

If you have just moved into a new house or apartment you can also query the landlord, if renting, or the last owner to get the GPRN from an old bill.

Your GPRN is attached to the property, not to you or your account with your gas supplier. This means you will need to get the code whenever you move to a new property.
